Researcher biography

Dr Kathleen Felton completed her doctoral research in the area of client outcomes measurement for social work practice in hospital contexts. The key proposal of this thesis was that the concept of meaning-based quality of life offered strong synergies with the ethics and values underpinning social work and offered a useful way forward in conceptualising and measuring social work sensitive client outcomes.

Over the last 17 years Kathleen has worked extensively in the statutory child protection field in Qld, Australia. Within this context, she has developed expertise in the area of service delivery improvement and evaluation, including, quality assurance, serious case and child death reviews; staff recruitment, selection and development in human services.

Kathleen is a teaching focussed academic with a specialisations in work integrated learning; inclusive education; making the transition from student to professional status; capstone courses and e-portfolios.
