The School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work and Alumni Association invites you to stay connected as you commence your career after graduating from The University of Queensland. 


Our mission is to reach and engage with the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work Alumni to develop value-adding life-long connections through a range of events and activities. This provides Alumni with the opportunity to maintain a network for professional, career and self-development opportunities.

Our Alumni Association

Our Alumni Association helps graduates stay in touch with their peer group and profession, keep up-to-date with developments in the industry, as well as build and maintain valuable links with other health professionals, community organisations, and The University of Queensland. It also allows Alumni to give back to their profession by participating in programs such as student mentoring.

As a member of our Alumni Association, you will receive:

New graduate program

If you are a new graduate of the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work, you can informally meet with an experienced nursing, midwifery, social work or human service practitioner as a mentor for your career. If you are interested in finding a mentor please contact Secretary, Mark Cleaver on (07) 3365 2462 and he will discuss the program with you and match you with a suitable mentor.

Be part of the Nursing and Midwifery Graduate e-cohort study

The School currently conducts the Graduate e-cohort Study (GeC). 

Nursing and midwifery graduates are invited to participate in a ten-year longitudinal workforce study conducted in collaboration with six universities from Australia and New Zealand.  The GeC study examines the choices graduate nurses and midwives make in relation to employment and education in the years following graduation.  Using e-cohort technology, surveys are completed online and an email address is all that is required to participate no matter where in the world a graduate might be located.  Data collected inform industry, government and the education sector about the needs of our graduate nursing and midwifery workforces. 

We look forward to your participation in the GeC Study. Your contribution will help shape the future of nursing and midwifery and is vital to the future workforce planning and choices available to nurses and midwives.
