Background

The primary objective of this study is to demonstrate that a securement of PICCs with SASS decreases the risk of catheter dislodgement (partial or total) compared to securement with SSD in adult patients.

Methods: Superiority randomised controlled trial. We will determine clinical and cost-effectiveness of SASS compared to standard dressing and securement for adults requiring insertion of PICC at Toowoomba Base Hospital.

Participants: Patients 16 years of age or older requiring PICC insertion in Medical Imaging at TBH.
